Tips for Net Surfers 4
Netscape
Helps
Are you making your own HTML-page? Especially when you want to use an easy editor, there
could sneak in some unnoticed mistakes. When you can't find the defect, it could help to
right click the mouse button and look at the Source of the Document. When part of a code
blinks, then something is missing. It wouldn't be the first time a </td> or
</table> stays unnoticed.
Backing Up
Bookmarks

For some people the favorite
list is almost as valuable as their agenda. The knowledge of (years of) surfing is saved
here. Making back-ups of important data on a PC is always a smart precaution.
Unfortunately the favorites are usually not in a place that you will automatically
back-up. Prevent the lost of your favorites and copy Netscape's bookmark.html to a place you do back-up or put it on CD or Floppy. For the favorites of
the IE, you can back them up by adding them to a winzip file and put them on CD, Floppy,
etc.
Backgrounds
It's very simple to set a picture that you saw on the internet as background for your
desktop. In both Netscape and IE, you can by right clicking your mouse button on the
picture and choose the option use as background. When you did this you can adjust the
properties under Windows. Right click with the mouse on the desktop and go to Properties,
Background and View. Try different options, to see what you like most.
Which Version?
It can be of importance to know which version of a browser
you're using, if for example you read that a certain version can have security breaches.
In Netscape you go to the menu Help and choose there About. On top of this page you will
see Netscape Navigator/Communicator version x,y, where x,y is the version number. In IE
you also go to the menu Help and you also choose about. A new window will be opened in
which the version number is in the logo. A more detailed version number is right below it.
